Rather than delivering a finished narrative, we invited the entire organisation to discover its North Star together. Internal communication was treated as an experience, designed to build anticipation, participation, and emotional buy-in before strategy was ever presented.
The journey unfolded through a series of carefully staged moments. Teaser emails styled as NASA ground control interfaces, complete with live countdown timers, signalled that something significant was coming. Each team member received a personalised boarding pass and custom crew apparel, establishing a shared sense of mission and belonging. The core moment brought the organisation together inside the Wits Digital Dome, transforming the CEO’s strategy presentation into a collective experience. A cinematic space narrative, narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, set the emotional frame, followed by a live address from a real astronaut speaking to teamwork, trust, and human potential. To ensure longevity, we translated the idea into a modular internal system. Toolkits across Canva and Microsoft Office enabled HR to carry the “Here We Grow” narrative through onboarding, growth milestones, and beyond. An AI-powered portrait experience gave every team member a shared visual language to express pride in the culture internally and externally.
The programme recentred the organisation at a critical moment of growth, restoring clarity, alignment, and momentum across teams. Early feedback from HR points to a visible shift in energy and engagement, with improved optimism and focus across the business.
More importantly, Merchant Capital now has a scalable internal culture system rather than a one-off activation. One that reinforces performance and growth as shared endeavours, and helps new and existing team members feel connected to the mission from day one. This work demonstrates how internal communication, when treated as experience rather than messaging, can become a powerful driver of alignment, belief, and long-term organisational resilience.
Next projects.
